Design Backstory 

In the 1980's Bruce Springsteen sang of the damage to the American dream people had been born into when economic fire tore through industrial USA and more recently an exhibition at the Smithsonian captured how artists processed the recent and recurring wildfires in California and Dr Reese Halter talks about Californian bushfires here.

Tragically today far too much land in the USA and elsewhere is being stricken by drought and wild fires further reducing forest cover and threatening biodiversity whilst elsewhere there is thawing permafrost and massive flooding and erosion. This and an exhibition at the Smithsonian inspired the design. Paradise and Hawaii's Lahaina is burnt and Hades could be on the horizon if we don't stop extracting and burning buried sunshine.

Chris Funk at the UC Santa Barbara's Climate Hazard Centre has it right when he (and many others) warns that climate change is not so much a trend but an increase in climate extremes.
