In the physics bough of the knowledge tree condensed matter physics is a less well known branch than that of particle physics, astrophysics or cosmology. In his excellent “Ask A Spaceman” podcast Paul Sutter explains a Rydberg Polaron. It is like an atom … but more so. It is essentially an atom inside another atom in a bath of very cold atoms – a Bose-Einstein Condensate that behaves as single unified whole. So just a normal atom, but better!
