Professor Doudna continues to contribute to this ambition with the Innovative Genomics Institute and the first CRISPR-enabled xenotransplant of a pigs heart into a David Bennett in January 2022. Genetic manipulation is not without ethical issues and Professor Doudna's own book “A Crack In Creation” is an excellent read on the subject of when genomics risks becoming eugenics.
Also have a listen to Professor Fyodor Urnov ive an excellent talk about some of the promise of CRISPR on Instant Genius.
