Irrespective of the James Webb space telescope (JWST) naming controversy its first images already show us what an amazing instrument this will be enabling us to peer back closer to when the first suns ignited in the first galaxies and improve humanity's search for exoplanets. As another item in the astronomers, astrophysicists and cosmologists toolkit over the next few decades it will undoubtedly be a boon for scientific discovery and progress. We might answer the chicken or egg question of which came first: black holes or the first galaxies?
